兰花谷，因峡谷两侧的崖壁兰花遍布， 一年多季开花，香溢四野而得名。因构造控制发育的这条北西向峡谷，流水沿裂隙冲蚀下切形成深谷。按（500米、200米和100米）切割深度分别把丹霞峡谷划分为“深切”、“中切”与“浅切”，此处为典型的青年期丹霞深切峡谷。

Orchid Canyon is named for the lush growth of orchids on the Cliffside. Those orchids blossom out several times annually, when the canyon is fully suffused with the fragrance of the flowers. This canyon, trending northwest to southeast direction, is deeply incised by running water and by the control of structural geology. According to the incision depth, the danxia canyons are classified into categories as “the deeply incised”, “the moderately incised”, and “the shallowly incised” canyon. Orchid canyon is representative of the deeply incised canyon of young stage danxia landforms.
