东面五座山峰面朝龙潭口如五条嬉戏中的巨龙，憨态可掬。其山峰 列屏排开，基座相连，尚未深切，这种基座高度大于上部直立山块的丹霞山体，称为“早期峰丛”。峰丛较发育是泰宁丹霞处于青年期旋回阶段的典型例证。相反，基座小于上部的直立山峰的丹霞地貌区域，地质学上称“峰林”。面前的“五龙布岳”在泰宁地质变迁史上则经历了430万年演变的漫长岁月。
【Five Dragons Soaring Over Mountains】＿ early stage danxia peak clusters
The five peaks, sitting to the east and facing the entrance of the pool, resemble five giant dragons playing around. These peaks display rows upon rows with their bottoms interconnected, which have not been separated by erosion, known as the characteristics of danxia peak cluster of the young stage danxia landforms. The well-developed peak clusters demonstrate the young stage danxia landforms of Taining Geopark in geomorphic cycle. In the contrary, the isolated peaks with their bases apart are termed “peak forest” in geology. The scenery in the front is the footprint of geological events that have been going through since 4.3 million years ago.
