崖壁表面径流沿断裂面侵蚀岩层，由于岩壁不同部位的岩性结构差异，造成差异风化，软弱的岩层侵蚀快而崩落，使崖壁在纵向上凹凸不平呈“S”形的波状起伏，这种大自然鬼斧神工雕琢的天然曲线，被称为“波状崖壁”，为泰宁丹霞地貌特有。
[The undulating cliff face and Fresco]——Undulating Danxia cliff surface
This undulating Danxia cliff surface was formed by runoff erosion along fracture plane and differential weathering of rock layers on the cliff surface. This integrated process caused the relatively soft rock layers collapse and developed a uneven cliff surface, which appears like S-shape waves. Owning to the superlative of the great nature, this special landscape was identified as “Undulating cliff surface” and it only exists in the Danxia landform area of Taining.
